Hmmm, I dunno if I should be saying this because i am new but i wonder if any of you are interested in creating some arcs. Members creating a single plot line with many parts to it. Rather than a conversation between two people.

Okay, maybe i was afraid to ask this when I was here last because i am new. But what i would like is slightly different from seperate forums. The way I see it, is that its difficult to know where to go once your in. And you don't know how to enter because it takes a long time to rp with anyone unless you put yourself in the crosshairs. This is the problem I find with most RPG's other than low daily posts. My suggestions:
1. You can have seperate Ls's or forums to showcase your characters. Just like the kitchen or Delphis room. However why not have one seperate forum where all rooms are involved not just one. Where the characters are able to introduce themselves. I would love to know how these people got to know each other but I have to go through months and months of posts which will take a while.
2. In this system new characters or students are able to introduce themselves to the rest of the "Cast" so they won't have to feel akward about just jumping in. I hate jumping in because when i started I don't know much about your characters other than what it says on your profile. Ergo it was difficult to cut into what others where doing.
3. The group project system, should have a arc system much like you find in the comics. I am not saying you have to break up your characters a little. I have fun reading the posts in here they are good. But each story should have a goal, a goal where we can stem from and move on. Where you find in most forums is that its a never ending story.
I hope this is not a insult to anyone its just my opinion. When I did this system somewhere it worked fine, and it was fun. I would love to bring it to you.

well, i have always used the PM system to fing out necessary info with charecters. Mainly i ask if people want to RP, then they can say no if they are busy or don't want to.

Yes brainfreeze that would be the way I would like to start this. We work together to create a plausible storyline. PM or post whatever ideas come to our head.

In responce... ^-^
1. I'm not entirely sure what you mean by a seperate forum, but there is an area where characters are given the oppertunity to introduce themselfs and their characters- the Hero and Villian Character areas. The fact of the matter is, though, very few players chose to take these forums up on their intended purpouse. Which leads nicely in to...
2. Most characters do not have a problem with just jumping in. There's a little bit of hesitation, where I get AIMed/MSNed/PMed alot, as they ask "Where should I start posting", when it really just comes down to... wherever you want. And then they do, usually in or around the "At the Gates" or "outside" posts.
My own personal feelings about jumping in are... well, in real life, do you get to know everyone's background before you walk up and say "hello"? Nope. This just adds another level of realisim (or so I like to think... ^-^) I also don't think there's anything wrong with reading back posts. It gives new players an idea of how things run, and the types of posts people do.
On a bit of a tangent, but oh well... The biggest problem New Players face is a lack of aggression. New players have a tendency to post somewhere, and then expect other players to come into their thread. ... This rarely works. The best way to get playing, is to find a thread that's active, and JUMP IN. And not to sound like a broken record but some sort of Instant Messaging system, such as AIM help in this process ALOT.
3. One of the biggest problems I've encountered in trying to organize actual plot lines and arcs is that everyone on the board has different availabilities, making it very, VERY difficult to get ANYTHING done, because someone will always go missing.
I'm not quite certain what system it is you're talking about, but I would love to hear more about it, if you think it would make the Role Playing better. ^-^

I agree that some of the problems with the site itself isn't because there aren't any options for the new characters its lack of aggression very true. But when i started this somewhere else, I held 8 players for 3-4 months almost day to day at least coming 3 times a week. Only problems I had is when they had to go offline due to homework (college students) unfortunately this wasnt a rpg site. But it had a RPG system. Too bad its closed now I got to do 2 arcs and each of them had several parts.
That being said i believe its do able. I think you are correct about some of the people who are involved may leave from time to time. maybe weeks on end.
My suggestions to alleviate that problem.
1. permission to use others characters. right before that person has to go they could just say kill my character or use my character till I get back. Just don't change him/her such as love interests personality things like that.
Overcrowded rooms, I think this will be a problem that it may get cluttered in there. My suggestion a rpg group for every 5-8 people. I don't know how many people would be interested in this by the looks of it probably 5 or less.

Most people already solve the problem of going, by picking someone who's still there, and telling them to post your character's actions, until they can get him/her out of paly, such as making their cell phone go off and stuff. And the whole idea of this RPG is that EVERYONE roleplays together, which is something that your RPG groups idea would eliminate.

okay this arc-rpg system takes what we have in the forums we already have and it becomes the background of the overall project. Lets take delphi, draven, hydroa, gorgon and siren for example. Right now there is something serious going on, but what if there is something more to it than that. What if something else was causing the problems. Someone could play the villian of the arc itself. And as the story is going several other stories are intertwining. What could be going on in the infirmary could be directly affecting other characters outside. Somewhere somehow they can meet to a conclusion or part of the conclusion.

That's not really very much different to what happens at the moment, since we talk to each other about what's going to happen, and when to conclude storylines and stuff anyway, so not much would really change.
