A nice, sprawling ranch house in an pleasant community. The lawn is an adverage size for the neighborhood and well kept. The house looks normal. And the inside of the house is the same way, or it would be if it weren't for the conversation going on inside of the house (thank God for good insulation), it isn't so much a conversation as a yelling match.
The Starling were sitting down for a relativly peaceful dinner when it was discovered that they had recieved a call earlier and Christine had hung up on it.
"She called and you hung up on her? Why did you do that?!" Del's mother Mrs. Cynthia Starling yells at her daughter Christine.
"Why did she even bother calling!" Christine yells back.
"I asked her to call and talk to you!"
"Why the hell would I want to talk to that freak!"
"Now you listen here young lady, you will not call memebers of this family freaks. Cassandra is your sister-" Mr. James Starling yells at Christine.
"Del. . . Delphi, she wants to be called Delphi." Mrs. Starling intrupts.
"See that freak doesn't even want to be a part of this family. And SHE is the one that left in the first place! None of us made her leave and we are better off with out her! Why don't you two just forget about it, we are finally normal now!" Christine yells angrily.
"We aren't a family this way and we did make her leave, in a way." Mr. Starling says firmly.
"We made it uncomfortable on her and it was wrong of us." Mrs. Starling elaborates.
"If it was so damn wrong of us why did you send Cordy away too, then?"Christine says pulling out her trump card. This usually kills the conversation.
But not tonight. Tonight Mr. Starling rresponds, he sounds regretful but decided, "She is safe there and with other kids just like her. It was the best thing to do after how the school handled the situation."
"Fine so keep them both there we don't need them here."
"No we don't need them here, but we want them here, that is why, hopefully, your sisters will be joining us for Christmas this year. And this is final. I don't want to hear anything more about this from you Christine unless it is that you are happy that your sisters are visiting and that you can't wait." Mr. Starling yells at Christine.
"Cold day in hell!" Christine yells back, as she gets up from the table and runs for the back door.
"Where do you think you're going young lady?"
"Out with my friends, who agree mutant are freaks!"
"No you're not!" Mr. Starling yells back he stands up to follow his daughter. "YOu get back in this house right now!"
"Jim-" Mrs. Starling intrupts, "Let her go. You're both angry and you're going to say things you regret. Let's finish dinner I'll talk to her when she gets back."
He sits back down. They both sit there quietly finishing dinner.
